Brief
By researching a chosen area of interest I developed my own brief that was, to produce a communication piece that reminds society of the importance of face-to-face human interaction in the ‘real world’.
Response
Text, email and instant messaging all eradicate opportunity to use and therefore interpret nonverbal cues. This is causing communication to become superficial and words and their true meanings are becoming ambiguous. This inspired me to undergo an investigation into how I could visually represent the process of words becoming digitised and their meanings being lost. As a product of this exploration I created a working typeface called L.I.D; Lost In Digital. The typeface was commended at D&AD New Blood and included in Neville Brody’s publication Fuse 1-20.
